The Heaning Cottages

Self-catered Heaning Cottages, each sleep two

We have five Heaning Cottages, each sleeping two; Corner, Nook, Pod, Stable and End.

All the cottages other than The Pod are pretty much identical mirror images in layout and design so we’ve grouped Corner, The Nook, Stable and End together and split out The Pod separately to help you orientate yourself a bit. The only other difference between the cottages is that The Nook comes with two luxurious armchairs and the others come with a sumptuous sofa.

Before entering the Heaning Cottages, you’ll walk down a cobbled lane we’ve nicknamed Coronation Street. The cobbles have only been laid recently but were reclaimed from the chimney of a nineteenth century Lancashire Mill so add an authentic feeling to the approach.

As you enter from the lane, you have an entrance hallway to store wet weather gear, boots and coats so you can keep the cottage nice and cosy. Nook shares its boot area with Corner and Stable with End. You then have your own private front door into each cottage.

Each Heaning Cottage is beautifully kitted out to provide a lovely stay for two people, with a fully fitted kitchen, dining and living area, wet room, log effect fire, Smart TV, WIFI and a lovely sunny terraced garden (when the sun is shining!) with a bistro table and chairs, washing machine and dishwasher.

In the bedroom you’ll notice original beams across the ceiling. Whilst we replaced the roof entirely when we renovated the property with new modern structural oak beams hidden out of view, we replaced these sixteenth century beauties for aesthetic purposes and we hope you’ll agree they help retail a lot of the original character.

Every cottage was planned individually, including a mix of Lakeland comfort with traditional materials and fabrics alongside the clean lines of Nordic chic.

Along with your terrace patio area, you also have access to The Heaning Meadow, our large field exclusive to our guests by the entrance driveway to enjoy ball games and picnics. The meadow is dotted with picnic tables and cut through with paths, as well as the Rhododendron Walk for a gentle stroll with lovely bench seats and a cracking view down the valley, to the left hand side of the driveway as you come in.

Each cottage sleeps two for a cosy getaway for a couple of a lovely hunker down for two friends.

Pod Cottage was originally a garage used for storing machinery and lawnmowers.

However we spotted the potential for a quirky addition to our Heaning Cottages, The Pod. We lowered the internal floor to make a large living space and installed a staircase to create a mezzanine feel. The original features such as the lintel and small window overlooking the cobbled street give Pod Cottage a beautiful individual feel.

As you enter from the lane, you have walk up a set of reclaimed sandstone steps. These were originally copings on the rear terrace of the residence but made beautiful steps. As with everything on this project, we sought to reuse, reclaim and recycle as much as possible.

Pod Cottage is beautifully kitted out to provide a lovely stay for two people, with a fully fitted kitchen, dining and living area, ensuite shower room, log effect fire, TV, WIFI and a lovely sunny terraced garden (when the sun is shining!) with a bistro table and chairs. Pod comes complete with a dishwasher and washing machine.

As with the other cottages, Pod has original beams and is furnished to the highest standards of Lakeland-Scandi chic. You also of course have access to The Heaning Meadow and Rhododendron Walk as well as your own private patio area.

Pod sleeps two and is super cute and romantic.
